It’s done in Photoshop, pat. It’s really based on softening the background, rather than sharpening the main portion of the photo.
The hardest part is making a mask to separate the two parts so that you can change just one part.
Of course, it’s the telephoto lens that does that automatically in most of the bird shots. Only the subject is in focus.
The color is SO gorgeous against the gray wood.
