Without a doubt, my favorite part of my recent Eastern Washington trip was my visit to Palouse Falls even though I didn’t manage to get a single bird picture there. The cliffs surrounding the falls were absolutely awe-inspiring.
And the view of the cliffs further down the river were equally impressive, though this 620 pixel wide photograph doesn’t do them justice.
On the road to Lyon’s Ferry I also captured my best shot of this small variety of sunflower which was widespread in this area where flowers are rare.
My favorite bird shot of the trip is this one of a Hairy Woodpecker taken at Lyons Ferry, a bird I actually saw in several different areas.
loren the falls are so improbably perfect! they look like the falls you see in films, paintings, fantasy art!!! incredible. steven
That woodpecker is not unlike our greater spotted. Your cliff photos are breathtaking Loren – you have such wonderful scenery.
That beautiful Eastern Washington light! Thanks for your photos, Loren.
I had no idea Washington had scenery like this! I guess I always thought of it as Seattle and some farmland with apple orchards. How wrong I was.
What beautiful panoramic views!
I had the same problem trying to photograph the ruins and canyons around Mesa Verde. It’s very hard to do it justice with a photograph- it’s one of those places you just have to go.
Fabulous pictures. Yes, strange to see our greater spotted woodpecker amongst the exotica!
