I didn’t manage to capture the most memorable image from our Hawaiian trip, a sea turtle diving into the green depths at the beginning of our snorkeling trip. I didn’t even manage to capture the second-most memorable moment, when we watched several turtles swimming past the dock when we ended the snorkeling trip — and I still didn’t have a camera with me.
Instead, I had to settle for this shot of a turtle sleeping on the beach where the kids were surfing.
Nor did I manage to get a good shot of the porpoises that were jumping into the air while we were at Honolua Bay. Instead, I had to settle for several shots that offered proof that we did, indeed, see porpoises
feeding in the bay.
Perhaps in the not-so-distant future we will be able to record what we see without a camera-per-se. Until then, we will just have to live with the realization that the best pictures are the ones that only live in our memory.
your turtle is pretty amazing, even so!
Very true. No picture of a humpback whale will take the place of my memory of seeing it! Your turtle picture is fantastic though!
