Love the tiger lily, one of my favorite flowers.
This post was a double pleasure for me. The photo didn’t appear until I checked out the comment (which may have been your intention), so I initially thought the Grrrr! was your frustrated response to a post that disappeared. Not that I took pleasure in your frustration, just in your expression of it.
I thought you’d be interested in an article in this week’s New Yorker, discussing Roethke and Wright. (available online for a limited time at http://www.newyorker.com/critics/books/?050808crbo_books) These guys are both sort of sacred cows to me, but it was oddly refreshing to read an objective (and insightful) assessment of their work, noting some of their limitations along with the places where they soared.
….Oh, I like the photo, too. What’s the background? Looks like Van Gogh’s starry night!
I’ll read the article shortly since they’re two of my favorites, too.
The background is simply an application of a Photoshop artistic filter called “paint daubs.” Of course, you have to mask the lily when you apply the filter. I do like to play around with Photoshop.
