Jeff and Debbie, who own a cabin near King’s Canyon National Park, gave us a guided tour of the park while we were there.Although I’ve visited the Coastal Redwoods many times, I’ve never visited the southern California Sequoia before. These redwoods aren’t as tall as those on the coast but are much wider at the base.
Unless you're willing to spend a year photographing a tree, you soon realize all you can do is suggest a small part of the trees' beauty through your photographs,
and hopefully these shots manage to do that.
There were amazing trees wherever I looked,
at least on the trail Jeff took us on.
My favorite trees were the ones that had obviously survived major hardships,
because they reminded me of bonzai I’ve admired or because of some innate beauty in all things that have endured in the face of great obstacles.
