We see Song Sparrows
around here so often that we begin to take them for granted — “Oh, that’s just a ‘Song Sparrow.’”
They’re a little harder to ignore in Spring when they’re intent on staking out their territory and attracting a mate, competing with the Red-Winged Blackbird and the Marsh Wren to see who can sing the loudest.
This time of year, they are another sure herald of Spring
Yes! We were out at the marsh yesterday, and the song that came through was the Song Sparrow’s. So beautiful.
There must be a lot of Song Sparrows everywhere I go because that’s one of the few bird songs I can easily identify. I consider it a blessing to hear both the Song Sparrow and the Red-Wing Blackbird at Theler.
That’s a great photo of the Song Sparrow, Loren. They do have a wonderful voice. We have them around here as well.
